RED FLOOR

WdKA, Rotterdam 2019 - 2020

The Red Floor is a gallery insider the WdKA which was initiated by students in 2018. In 2019, I joined the team and help to organise several events throughout the semester which provided our peers with a platform to exhibit their work to a broader range of people. The purpose was not only to stimulate exchange between disciplines but also create an opportunity to experiment with the display of art for an audience. Due to the lockdown in 2020 and the consequential inaccessibilty of the academy, we collaborated with the Alexandrium Shopping Center to set up exhibitions in vacant shopping units. This lead to a more independent execution of the exhibition and greater exposure of the artworks on display. The Red Floor showed six different exhibition in a duration of six months in the Alexandrium Shopping Center, possible through the financial support of the Fleur Groenendijk Foundation.
